Blackberry Gin Fizz
Where has this drink been all my (adult) life?!? Another slam dunk recipe from Smitten Kitchen. This is one fantastic, fizzy, refreshing beverage. Don't be tempted to use crappy gin. I think that would be a mistake. May I suggest Hendricks'? This is the perfect beverage to help one relax and embrace the idea of randomness (as opposed to symmetry) when hanging family pictures on a photo gallery wall. Just sayin'.
Blackberry Gin Fizz
-from smittenkitchen.com
Makes 2 tall drinks (I doubled this, because my instincts told me that my husband and I would each consume two. I was right.)
-1/4 cup fresh blackberries
-2 tablespoons sugar
-1/2 cup gin
-1/4 cup fresh lime juice (from two juicy limes. This will be awful if you use the fake stuff. Don't you dare.)
-Club soda
Purée blackberries and sugar in a blender or food processor until as liquefied as possible. Strain purée through a fine-mesh sieve or tea strainer into two tall glasses; discard seeds in sieve. Divide gin and lime juice between glasses and stir to combine. Add ice to glasses then top each with soda. Stir to combine and enjoy the rising fizz on a beautifully colored beverage.
