Pat's Sour Cream Chocolate Cake
Pat's Sour Cream Chocolate Cake
-tried and true from my dear friend in CoMO, Pat Devine, who never, ever, ever made anything I didn't love. I ate a lot of meals with the Devines and attended a ton of birthday parties for their 5 children over the years we were neighbors...lucky me!
In small saucepan, melt
- 1 stick butter
- 4 squares unsweetened chocolate
- 1 c. water
Add above mixture to:
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 t. baking soda
- 1 c. sour cream (I use light)
- 2 t. vanilla
Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes. This works as a 9x13, or a double 9" layer cake. Cupcakes would be outstanding, too. Frost with your favorite frosting. This is a great, dense cake that keeps for days and makes the perfect birthday cake.
